Gobind Behari Lal

Gobind Behari Lal maintained a deliberate distance from his early involvement with the Gadar Party, and several contemporaries noted his discomfort discussing that period. Archival records show that during the factional turmoil of 1914-1917, he aligned closely with Ram Chandra, whose financial mismanagement and embezzlement were documented in court proceedings. Lal's participation in the short-lived "Gadar Incorporation" reflects this association. His later decision to "convert" and cooperate with the British Consulate further contributed to his silence about those years, suggesting a complex mix of political repositioning, personal survival, and reputational concerns rather than the heroic narrative he later cultivated.
